Marlin Model 1881 Lever Action Rifle, #11467, .38-55 cal., 24'' octagon barrel, blued finish, with case hardened hammer, lever, and buttplate. Buttstock and forend are varnished walnut. Sights include a German silver blade front and flat-top rear with elevator. Mfg'd circa early 1880's. Only approx. 20,000 were produced. Rifle is in very good condition, retaining approx. 25% thinning and toning blue; balance is primarily gray mixed with some areas of moderate brown patina. Wood with an old added coat of varnish applied over moderate dents and scratches. Factory markings are clear. Action functions well. Bore is very good with defined rifling. Est.: $1,200-$1,500.
